After spending twelve years in classical percussion at the Nîmes Regional Conservatory, vibraphonist Tristan Bernoud decided to pursue jazz by joining Serge Lazarevitch's class at the Montpellier Regional Conservatory in 2020. There, he quickly met Egon Wolfson, a drummer who grew up in New York, and Loïc Lengagne, a young pianist from Montpellier.
After a few concerts, notably with the "After Reception" Quintet, notably at the Montpellier Radio France Festival in 2022, and playing together daily, the trio decided to pursue higher education at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels after obtaining their Diploma of Musical Studies at the Montpellier Conservatory.
They finally met Gaspard Mathelin, a trumpeter trained in Classical and Jazz at the Lille Regional Conservatory, and Jim Monneau, a well-established double bassist in the Belgian capital, with whom the musical and human connection was evident. Creative leader Tristan Bernoud composes original pieces that have already been acclaimed during concerts in several Brussels venues, such as the Jazz Station and the Sounds Jazz Club. The group is a 2025 winner of the Propulsion cross-border program, BANDS program.
The group's influences are varied, ranging from John Coltrane, Thelonious Monk, and Ornette Coleman to musicians from the current New York scene such as trumpeter and composer Ambrose Akinmusire, saxophonist Immanuel Wilkins, and vibraphonist Joel Ross.
The music promises to captivate the listener, taking them on a colorful journey; the shared energy shared by the musicians on stage makes the room vibrate.
The Quintet recorded "For Whom Echoes Raise," a studio album released in June 2025. Thanks to the Propulsion program, a five-track EP was recorded in the legendary Pyramide Studio in Brussels. "Heart Request PT. I," the first part of a double EP, is currently being mixed; release scheduled for September 2025.

“There is a lot of interaction between the musicians, resulting in a strong group that masters their skills well. The sound palette, enriched with the vibraphone, adds a pleasant dimension. They distinguish themselves through their craftsmanship and demonstrate this through a very playful approach to making music. As a band they stand strong with a fully developed concept.”
